June 9, 1959-January 19, 2021 New Jersey Chapter 101 Sons of AMVETS Paul was a Chartered Member of the Riders at NJ Post 101 where he was also a Sons member. Paul left behind his wife and best friend Linda. Paul loved to ride motorcycles and fish. You could find Linda and him on the shores of Jersey fishing in the summers. Paul spent 35 years as a union sheetmetal worker in Philadelphia. Shortly after retiring he bought a house and moved to Florida. He became a SAL and a Rider of the Punta Gordo Post 103 American Legion.

Florida Chapter 2 Sons of AMVETS Walter "JR" Gilbert lost his long fought battle with cancer on December 23, 2020. He was a Charter Member and Past Commander of Sons of AMVETS Squadron 2. He was also a Charter Member of FL AMVETS Riders Chapter 2. The fight is over, the pain is gone. Rest in Peace JR. October 22, 1959-December 18, 2020
Kentucky Chapter 125 Branch of Service: Army June 18, 1960-December 14, 2020 New Jersey Chapter 101 Sons of AMVETS Joe was a member of the Sons of AMVETS with NJ Post 101. He was not a member with us long, but he sure did leave his mark. Joe was a tele-communications guy with one of the local hospitals. He was married and has two beautiful girls. He loved to ride his motorcycle ands when he wasn't doing that you could find him shooting pool at one of the local watering holes. September 14, 1945 - December 14, 2020 Texas Chapter 23 Branch of Service: Army Espirio "Pilo" Vega was a dedicated member of the AMVETS giving of his time to ensure that the post he loved, Post 23, Dallas, Tx, would survive and thrive for years to come. As a Trustee of the Post, he and other trustees put processes and procedures in place that made the operations of the Post simple, repeatable and sustainable. As 2nd Vice of the Riders, he lent his leadership and love of riding to making the Riders of the "Biggest Little Post in Texas" the success it is today. RIP Pilo!!! LRB March 9, 1952 - October 15, 2020 Illinois Chapter 169 Branch of Service: Army Gayle was on a heart transplant list at the VA. They could not match him with a donor, so he ran out of time. Gayle was Chapter treasurer last year. Gayle was a great guy and will be missed. December 22, 1960-September 14, 2020
New York Chapter 245 AMVETS Gary gave freely of his time to enhance the AMVETS facility. He updated the sound and light show on the dance floor. He assisted in getting the whole facility set up with new speakers and a microphone system. He loved music and wanted the facility to be the best. Frederick Schumacher May 26, 1960-July 26, 2020 New Jersey Chapter 101 Sons of AMVETS Freddy is what he was called to his friends and family. He was a teamster with Local 107 and drove for New Penn. He was a member of the Sons of AMVETS and was a Charter Member at 101.If you ever got to meet Freddy you would never forget him, he was a loud man with an infectious laugh. He was a father to fiver daughters and was always the first person to lend a helping hand when needed around the Post. |
Last ChapterThe AMVETS Riders would like to honor all those faithful Riders who have passed from this life to the next. Their voices and the the roar of their motorcycles have been stilled, but their names and faces are indelibly etched in our hearts and minds. Their passing has left a void that will never be filled, but we are grateful to have had the opportunity to serve and ride alongside them. We were blessed to know them, and we pray that God will bless us to be reunited when it is our time to take the final ride.
