Chaplain John Hipps’ Corner
Meet Our National Chaplain
As we begin the 2026–2027 term, we are proud to welcome Chaplain John Hipps of Indiana Chapter 91 to the National AMVETS Riders leadership team.
John has been a dedicated AMVETS Rider for nearly 12 years. His commitment to serving veterans and supporting his fellow Riders runs deep. When asked why he stepped forward to serve as National Chaplain, John shared:
“I believe I can help make a difference and keep our mission moving forward.”
For John, this position is deeply personal.
“It means everything to me. What better way to serve our veterans? We owe them everything.”
His Mission as National Chaplain
John’s mission is clear and heartfelt: to give 110 percent in service to the AMVETS Riders and offer spiritual support, encouragement and a helping hand to anyone in need.
He plans to share a short inspirational video or message each Sunday to spiritually uplift our members, with special attention given to supporting our Gold Star Mothers.
John also hopes to strengthen connections among Chaplains throughout the organization by hosting Zoom meetings and attending chapter events whenever possible.
Supporting Veterans Who Are Struggling
One of John’s highest priorities is reaching veterans during their most difficult moments. He is committed to supporting the AMVETS Riders’ suicide-awareness mission and using available training and resources whenever needed.
His goal is to ensure that no veteran ever feels forgotten or believes they must face life’s battles alone.
Guided by Faith
John is also an ordained minister. His calling guides the faith, compassion and genuine concern he brings to his role as National Chaplain each day.
